Solar Jooce supports nurses ( and other healthcare professionals)

Solar Jooce salutes and supports nurses and other healthcare providers who battle to save lives under difficult conditions.

Yesterday 13th May 2020 Solar Jooce participated in a Webinar hosted by Mrs. Clare Omastey (
President, West Africa Healthcare Federation) and featuring Professor Stanley Okolo (
Director General, West African Health Organization, Burkina Faso) and Professor Akinola Abayomi (Hon. Commissioner for Health, Lagos State).
Our take away from the webinar was that Solar Jooce is a stakeholder in the fight against Covid-19. We are committed to delivering service responsibly. The safety of the public (Healthcare centers, SMEs and households) and all our technicians is paramount.

At Solar Jooce we walk the walk. We are in the process of retooling to ensure that beyond the use of face masks our technicians also have access to bio-hazard suits to provide an added layer of mutual protection where necessary. The bio-hazard suits for our wonderful installers are proudly made in Nigeria. #IWIN (It Works In Nigeria) #TakeResponsibility

Bright spots - Ingenuity at work

Complain or cope. Your choice. Kudos to Dr. Charles Robertson for displaying superior resourcefulness and initiative. Ai (American ingenuity) at work.

Rays of hope - lighting standards for neglected PHCs

Doctors best friend - Solar DC lighting

Spotted what appeared to be an abandoned battery bank (Top pic). Many homes, SMEs and Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) are abandoning renewable solutions after systems fail or replacement batteries become unaffordable.
Side by side images show a fresh battery bank of eight batteries and other small battery bank(s) deployed at deprived Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) by Solar Jooce. Our modified photography lamp holders simulate theater lights and are fed by the mini battery banks without any need for inverters. Solar Jooce "Baby Banks" are hands down a doctors best friend. African Ingenuity (Ai) at its best - It Works In Nigeria #IWIN

While the sun shines - Make hay

Our thoughts are with assistant nurse manager Kious Kelly's family, colleagues and friends. He succumbed to Covid-19.
Preparedness is everything.
At Solar Jooce we deploy resilient solar solutions that are designed to endure in tough operating environments. We do this because failure is not an option and our technicians can not be committed to working in environments with a high risk of contagion in the event of a power system failure. We do frugal innovation for hard hit communities.

Home - Where the sun ought to shine

Have to agree with Ms. Le Pen. African leaders stay in your home countries for medical care. You've had six decades to get your houses in order.

Brighter futre - #IWD 2020

Solar Jooce celebrates with women everywhere. We have recommitted to supporting women through concrete action. We rethink, repurpose and recycle our way to innovative solutions. Solar Jooce has tested and successfully deployed modified photography equipment to provide substitute theater lighting to aid physicians in primary healthcare centers who depend on nothing but candle light. The situation is critical and #IWIN (It Works In Nigeria) #Solar4TheMasses #SolarDey
We are NOT an engineering organisation, but rather one that prides itself on ingenuity and innovation for a brighter future.

Winning the power access race

Africa and Africans can and should envision a brighter future for the continent. Solar Jooce for over a decade has embraced innovation and collaboration with our partners within the Commonwealth. We have had many successes and a few setbacks over the years. What can be said about our emerging template for achieving #Solar4TheMasses and #SDGs ? We can emphatically say #IWIN ! Sensible solar solution

Inverterless solar powered Direct Current (DC) gets you in the game. It is safe, functional, affordable and extremely reliable. When fuel funding for off-grid health center generators dry up an entire facility can get plunged into total darkness. Some healthcare facilities even ask families of expectant mothers to bring their own supply of petrol for the onsite generator. Lets join hands together to make available affordable #Solar4TheMasses #IWIN ! (It Works In Nigeria !)

Repurposing, recycling and rethinking power access

Solar Jooce as a social enterprise deploys functional solar solutions using recurring themes of re-purposing, recycling and rethinking everyday appliances. In this case a photography soft-box lamp holder was repurposed to provide delivery room "theater lights" to medical personnel in a severely deprived off-grid Primary Healthcare Center (PHC) using inverterless 12 volt solar power. Medical hands can now better focus on medicine in harsh and deprived environments. Our value proposition at Solar Jooce is frugal social innovation, not engineering.
