Future of energy access in Africa - #Solar4TheMasses

Solar Jooce keeps its focus on the current and future energy needs of Nigeria. We also consider the possibility of replicating our successes across geographies. #Solar4TheMasses #SolarDey !
We have had successes and some drawbacks over the years. We look forward to sharing some of our successes on what has worked in Nigeria with the unveiling of Solar Jooce's hashtag for 2020: #IWIN ! - It Works In Nigeria!

Frugal frontiers

Among the many benefits of using solar powered Direct Current (DC) is the ability to use much smaller (less costly) battery banks and no inverter - massive savings!. Relatively small (less costly) solar PV arrays are required to run DC devices. Solar powered DC certainly delivers in the areas of frugality and efficiency.

Doing more with less - Solar economy

At Solar Jooce one of our goals is to help regular people stretch every penny in tough environments. If a large inverter battery bank falls outside your budget, you can opt for Direct Current (DC) appliances and scale down to a single appropriately sized battery! No inverters needed with DC!!
The single battery above (in the lower middle section) powers:

3 x DC Security outdoor lights
6 x DC Indoor lights
1 x DC Ceiling fan
1 x DC Standing fan
1 x DC Microwave oven
1 x DC Chest freezer
1 x DC Pressing iron

Keep functioning - Do more with less.

Mainstreaming Women in solar

Its official! The off-grid riverine community of Sagbokoji has taken a plunge into the solar age courtesy of Solar Jooce. The local clinic has solar power and four women from the community completed a course led by our ACREST Cameroon/Kenya collaboration partners. They put amazing energy and dedication into building their very own phone charging station from which they can earn income. Sagbokoji has brought #mainstreaming of women in solar one step closer. #SolarDey#Solar4TheMasses #MDGs

Reviving primary healthcare - #Solar4TheMasses

Totally unplanned and unscripted. Another baby boy born today at Sagbokoji off-grid riverine healthcare center. Mother and child doing fine. Medical personnel say fewer mothers are bypassing primary healthcare because of improvements brought about by solar. See the new mother cooling down with a solar fan above. We hear the resident doctor himself gets to enjoy the solar fan on occasion. #SolarDey! #Solar4TheMasses

STEMMING THE TIDE OF ENERGY POVERTY

Winning or losing tomorrow, who cares? The answer is everyone should care. There's a slow motion tsunami on the horizon. Solar Jooce is deploying mass energy access to help stem this predictable tide. The alternative? A future of massive domestic instability, and even more massive waves of migrants crossing the Mediterranean, the port of Calais, the Atlantic etc! Tackle energy poverty today, embrace #Solar4TheMasses

Activating African Ingenuity (Ai) - #Solar4TheMasses #SDGs

Truth be told, there is a lot to be frustrated about across the continent. Justified anger and outrage might not solve these issues, but inspired action just might do the trick. A farmer in rural Kenya single-handedly constructed a road (not recommended for everybody), private citizens invest in elevated water tanks in the absence of public utilities and Solar Jooce has developed expertise in low cost, high impact inverterless power supply for domestic and SME utilisation, #Solar4TheMasses #SDG #MDG
